Mangia!

Mangia Kitchen Sign: Now on Etsy!

Made from enamel on copper with painted wood mounting board. Would fit beautifully under a kitchen cabinet over a counter top or anywhere else in the kitchen! Copper is distressed for a rustic feel and the letters are carefully enameled in tones of  the Italian flag colors: green, red and white. This is a fun piece worthy of any kitchen that belongs to those who love food!

Re-purposed with a purpose

As an artist I always gain a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment when I complete a piece of work. However, since I began incorporating found objects into my work, I have found a deeper sense of accomplishment because I SAVED something. Yes, it feels good to have saved something from going to the dump. I like doing good things for the environment. But it also feels good that this headboard can live a longer life as something that holds even more memories...pictures of your loved ones!

Made from a headboard found in the trash. I refinished the wood with a red and then black stain and distressed it to show the depth of color. The "family" enamel was first acid etched then enameled only on the letters and then revealed the copper leaving some fire scale to create an aged feel. The tree enamel was created with a technique using oil with sifted enamel then fired. This one also has revealed copper with a small amount of fire scale for a similar aged appearance.

Welcome Sign Coat Hanger
with hand made enamel on copper letters, re-purposed twin bed foot-board

https://www.etsy.com/listing/163735045/enamel-on-copper-welcome-sign-coat-rack?

I'm so happy to be creating again! Here's my latest, a re-purposed foot board I found in someone's trash. The foot board was sand blasted and I gave it a white washed finish. The enamels are done in a champleve technique (acid etched copper, then enamel filled in recessed areas). I gave the enamels an aged look will multiple firings. Each enamel is mounted in two varying heights to create a layered effect.

This coat hanger would make such warm and inviting addition to any entry way or mud room. And it's one of a kind! It would also make a very thoughtful housewarming gift!
